Peacock Bass

from $3,000.00

The peacock bass, or Brazilian Tucanare, is not actually a true bass. They are members of the Cichla genus of the Cichlid family, along with many popular and aggressive aquarium fish. Cichlids are well known for attacking out of pure aggression. Their paddle-like tail and sail like dorsal fins make them very agile and capable predators. Though peacock bass do get quite large, they are by no means the apex predator of the waters they are native to. The stunning fish evolved alongside caimans, arapaima, pariah, piranha, freshwater dolphins, and a host of other predators that call the Amazon River and its tributaries home.
